This team scored high individually. People felt confident in their own capability and their contribution to the organisation. But the workplace layer around them — the systems and structures they operate inside — scored lower. A team of strong individuals who hadn’t yet been fully activated by the environment around them.
The Nimble Index identified three priority areas: Deliberately Developmental, Rhythms & Rituals, and Enabling Systems. None of it came as a surprise — it matched what MSA already knew from its own strategic planning process and staff feedback. One genuine surprise: individual psychological safety scored higher than expected, given a rocky history on that front.
Development pathway clarity, the first priority, moved straight into MSA’s existing Performance Support Program during the debrief itself. The other two are now active focus areas: setting clearer purpose and cadence around meetings, and making an unusually flat org structure easier for people to navigate.
